Return On Investment

Before attempting to measure the return on the investment in coaching, Andy believes you need to define the success criteria. From this starting point the coaching process can be aligned to the business objectives.

There are two ways to evaluate whether the coaching is bringing added value:

  • Quantitively – which has some degree of numbers or measurement attached to it.
  • Qualitatively – which includes anecdotal evidence, feel-good factors and subjective comments.

Andy advocates 4 levels of evaluation as follows:

Level 1 – identifying and evaluating clear business benefits

Level 2 – impact of coaching on the individual executive

Level 3 – transfer of impact to the wider audience, perhaps the executive’s team
