“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”

Henry Ford

A good leader should be building and aligning teams, winning ‘hearts and minds’ and growing the capabilities of the people they are influencing. Coaching assists executives to learn and change their behaviours. The goal is to create a culture of self-learning, where all leaders adopt a coaching led philosophy with their teams.

It is important to encourage the executives to link team building to business results whilst learning about each other’s behavioural styles, motivational profiles and individual strengths. At times, team building can be solely feel good exercises without any connection to desired business outcomes.

Andy advocates approaching team building, not as a one off-time event as it should result in actionable ideas to assist the team and organisation to achieve their goals. Team building should recognise that continued learning, action and reinforcement are critical.
