The role of a business coach is to develop the leadership potential of executives through guidance, support, accountability and encouragement. Just like a sporting coach, a business coach assists the executive to focus on the game – to set clearer goals, reach their goals more quickly, make superior decisions and improve relationships.

The coach facilitates an executive to obtain results by asking the right questions rather than focusing on providing the answers.

A coach helps executives break down any mental blocks; providing space for the executive to articulate and develop their thoughts. Prejudices or assumptions, of what the executive thought was possible are explored, and this often leads to a new mind set and improved levels of performance. By focussing on previous successes and positive situations, the coach assists the person to understand themselves, their emotions and resulting behaviours.   As the executive aligns themselves to their goals, desires and values, this creates a sense of greater personal and professional fulfilment.

With a greater self-awareness, the coach leads the executive to question the inter-relationships between individuals in the team and to consider personality traits and communication preferences. This leads to significant improvements in alignment, team work and improved organisational performance.
